A topless Britney Spears has thanked fans for their support during "the trying time" that has included the end of her marriage, a bizarre public meltdown and a spell in rehab.

In a message posted on her website www.britneyspears.com, a photo of Spears wearing nothing but a pair of elbow-length white gloves appears alongside a message to fans who have included the troubled pop princess in their prayers.

"The reason for this letter is to let everyone know that their prayers have truly helped me," Spears writes.

"I am so blessed that you care enough about me to be concerned and will continue to live in this brighter state with all of you by myself during this trying time," she said.

"We are all lights of the world and we all need to continuously inspire others and look to the higher power," she added.

Spears split from husband Kevin Federline last year, an event that triggered an avalanche of tabloid stories about the Oops! ... I Did It Again star.

She was photographed partying hard in Los Angeles and Las Vegas -- often pantyless -- and bizarrely shaved her head shortly before entering a rehabilitation clinic.

Video on KABC-TV showed the newly shorn Spears with tiny tattoos on the back of her neck as she sits Friday night for a new tattoo -- a pair of red and pink lips.

"She just wanted something real small on her wrist, something dainty," Max Gott, the tattoo artist at Body and Soul in Sherman Oaks, told the TV station. "She got some cute little lips on her wrist."


Derrik Snell, who works at the tattoo parlor, said Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes as about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside.





"She seemed fine," Snell said. "I didn't really notice (the hairdo) at first, she had a hood on when she showed up."

Before heading to the tattoo parlor, Spears grabbed an electric clipper and shaved her own head at a San Fernando Valley salon Friday night, it was reported.

"I tried to talk her out of it. I said, 'Are you sure you're not having a bad day and tomorrow you'll feel differently about it? Why don't we wait a little bit?"' salon owner Esther Tognozzi said.

"She said, 'No, I absolutely want it shaved off now.' Next thing I know, she grabbed the buzzer and she went to the back of my salon and she was shaving off her own hair," Tognozzi said.

The appearance came the same day as reports on TV and Web sites that Spears, who has drawn criticism for her recent partying and sloppy behavior, had briefly checked into rehab.

Larry Rudolph, Spears' manager, couldn't be reached for comment.

Syndicated entertainment TV show "Extra" first reported that Spears had entered a treatment facility. Celebrity Web site TMZ.com then said the singer had entered a treatment center but had checked out one day later. Neither revealed their sources.

People magazine's Web site, citing "a source," said Spears had gone in and out of rehab, and identified the facility as Eric Clapton's Crossroads center in Antigua, in the Caribbean.

"Access Hollywood" then said the reports weren't true, but didn't cite a source.

A woman who answered the phone at Crossroads told The Associated Press that she couldn't confirm or deny anyone's presence at the facility.

Angelique Uram, a Spears fan who stood on the tattoo parlor's sidewalk for Friday night's spectacle, was aghast at the singer's new look.

"We could see her in the mirror, and her head is completely shaved," she told KABC. "It looks terrible."

Police arrived to control the crowd and helped Spears' bodyguards guide her into a waiting SUV, her head covered by a hooded sweatshirt.

Britney Spears Parties on New Year eve, Collapses

Britney Spears was spotted 'getting busy' with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart on Friday night while she was partying over the New Years Holiday weekend.

The couple was seen getting it on at the popular Arizona club called the 'Jackrabbit Lounge.'

According to reports, the pair were flirting hardcore on the patio area all night long, bumping and grinding and whispering in each others' ears.

On Monday morning, less than one hour into the New Year, Spears collapsed at the "Pure" nightclub inside Caesars Palace. Only 50 minutes earlier, she danced for the crowd to her song I'm A Slave For You and did not one but two countdowns - one outside and one inside. Inside the club she yelled "What happens in Vegas always stays in Vegas" and after the countdown she wished everybody a Happy New Year.

Britney had reportedly been seated on a cabana bed overlooking the dance floor at 12:50AM talking with one of her male dancers, reports Vegas Pop. She indicated that she wanted to leave and as she stood up, "she went into a dead faint and just fell right to the floor."

Security and two of her dancers reportedly wrapped Britney in what looked like a blanket-hooded poncho and carried her out of the club.

It appeared as if "she was being dragged as she wasn't walking under her own speed" said one eyewitness. "It looked as if they wanted to get her up to her hotel room as soon as possible."

Vegas Pop reports that at 2am this morning, an ambulance was summoned to the hotel but it was unclear at this time if it was brought to Caesars for Spears.

Barshop also insisted that Hilton happened to be one of those women, who after getting a completely bare wax feel comfortable not wearing any underwear, and as that area is groomed, also don’t feel embarrassed if they’re snaps are taken.

With two marriages, two kids and plenty of big pop hits behind her - guests must have had a lot to gossip about during the pop princess's 25th birthday bash this weekend.

Britney celebrated her landmark at Beverly Hills celebrity hangout Mr Chows.

And, as always, my video crew were on hand to capture the celebrations.

As you can see the singer looked great enjoying her K-FED free birthday dinner - even wearing a pair of knickers for the celebration.

Acting like a giddy teenager, Brit took delight in opening her presents and blowing out the candles on her cake.

The reason for the collapse of the Federline-Spears marriage may now be clearer to the world, as the rumor that he was cheating on her is intensifying by the day. Although the two never said which was the cause or why they had decided to part ways, speculation that he wasn't quite that loyal to his wife existed from day one.

First, it was said that Britney found K-Fed in bed with another woman and that, for this reason, she put her foot down and decided she could no longer take his many missteps. She had already been complaining about him not spending enough time at home, of leaving her with the kids while he was partying in Las Vegas and of spending her money on whims.

According to 'Star' Magazine, the real cause for the divorce can be found in Kevin's extra-marital affair. The latest issue of the mag contains an article in which the 'other woman' with whom he allegedly had the affair is even named.

To paraphrase the title of one of her best-known hits - oops, she forgot it again.

Not only her bra but her fashion sense appeared to have deserted Britney Spears once more as she stepped out in this eye-popping outfit together with her more modestly-dressed pal Paris Hilton.

The green skimpy frock bore a striking resemblance to a fig leaf and covered little more than the real thing.

Bystanders gawped as she threatened to spill out of the dress, which boasted a gaping neckline slashed to her waist.

Perhaps her newly-single status shortly after splitting from husband Kevin Federline meant she was keen to let her hair down.

Or she may have been anxious to show the world she has been unaffected by the break-up.

Either way the 24-year-old threatened to let more than her hair out as the pair tottered on heels into the celebrity hangout Hyde in Hollywood.

With their arms firmly interlocked, Miss Hilton, 26, appeared to be guiding and at one point, even holding up an increasingly dishevelled Miss Spears with a firm hand on her back.

As the evening wore on the princess of pop, who arrived with neatly coiffed locks tied back with a diamante-studded hairband, let loose straggly-looking hair extensions which have been woven into her new bob.

But as the hair came down, her revealing dress was in serious danger of doing so as well.
