Woman forges documents for sex in jail !

Associated Press

Baltimore, December 22, 2006

A 29-year-old woman allegedly forged documents and assumed the identity of an Annapolis attorney, apparently for the sole purpose of having sex with an inmate at a Baltimore prison.

"It was an elaborate scheme," said Major Priscilla Doggett, a spokeswoman for the prison system.

“I'm not aware of something like this ever occurring before,” he added.

Police charged Tiffany Gwen Weaver, of Reisterstown with seven counts stemming from the alleged incident, including forgery, fraud, and false use of government identification. She faces up to 10 years in prison.

On November 13, police allege in charging documents filed in Baltimore District Court, a woman appeared at the Maryland Reception, Diagnostic and Classification Center, claiming to be an attorney for inmate Jason Moody, who is serving 30 years for manslaughter.

She had a Maryland State Bar Association Security Identification Pass with photo, identifying her as Amanda Sprehn of the Annapolis law firm Hyatt, Peters & Weber. She also gave jail officials a business card with Sprehn's name.

Once alone with Moody, the court documents allege, the two began engaging in sexual intercourse. Corrections officials assigned to monitor such visits for safety and security observed their behavior and cut the visit short.

Annapolis attorney Amanda Sprehn, the real Amanda Sprehn, told The Baltimore Examiner she was on leave when her firm received a letter banning her from the jail.

"I was out on maternity leave," she said. "They informed me they received a letter saying I had been caught having sex with an inmate — which was a real laugh."

"I haven't a clue how she got onto my identity," Sprehn said, adding that she has never represented Weaver.

"I certainly feel like a victim. My reputation is at stake. There were already rumors circulating about me in Annapolis. My colleagues had to squash the rumors,” she said.

Prison investigators met with Sprehn's firm, and realised the business card and security pass were fakes. Further investigation led them to Weaver, authorities said.

Sai Baba accused of sexual abuse, controversy in Britain

One more article that I came across, don't know if the allegations are true. Also read the related post and comments.

Indo-Asian News Service
London, December 22, 2006

Satya Sai Baba, one of India's best known spiritual leaders, has triggered a fresh controversy in Britain after association with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award charity involving young people.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a London-headquartered charity whose patron is Prince Philip. It gives three kinds of awards (bronze, silver and gold) to anyone aged between 14-25 for achievements in four categories: community service, skills, physical recreation and expeditions.

Each year it is estimated that over 225,000 youngsters vie for the honour in Britain alone.

This year, when the charity celebrates its 50th year, it has chosen to send about 200 young volunteers to India to work with the Sri Satya Sai Organisation.

However, the feat, pulled off by Sai Youth UK, a division of the parent body, has created a furore.

Several people, including some of the Satya Sai Baba's former Western disciples, questioned the decision in view of the mixed reputation the godman enjoys. Sai devotees deny the allegations.

The Guardian was the first to raise its voice saying the award scheme had chosen as its accredited partner a spiritual group "whose 'living god' founder has been accused of sexually abusing young boys".

Satya Sai Baba hit bad press in Britain two years ago when a BBC programme, The Secret Swami, interviewed young Western disciples who alleged that the godman had sexually coerced them.

The Guardian quoted Tom Sackville, a former Home Office minister and chairman of Fair, a cult-watching and victim support group, as saying: "It is appallingly naive for the award scheme to involve young people and the royal family with an organisation whose leader is accused of paedophilia. Parents who plan to send their children on this pilgrimage... should be aware of the danger their children are being exposed to."

The daily also said Michael Gave, a conservative MP, planned to write to the charity to say it should monitor the organisations they chose as partners more strictly.

"As a society we need a more determined effort to identify and expose those religious cults and extremists that pose a direct threat to people, so that they do not enjoy patronage that should be directed elsewhere," he was quoted as saying.

In the 1990s, when Prince Charles visited India, he had expressed a desire to visit the Sai Baba but was quietly dissuaded by the British Embassy in New Delhi.

Since the Guardian article, it was reported that there was mounting pressure on the charity to distance itself from the Sai group.

However, charity spokesperson Shona Taylor did not answer repeated queries as to whether the volunteers had left for India and how they could be contacted.

MADD cuts ties with Miss Teen USA on reports that she partied with Miss USA

Associated Press

MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) said Wednesday it was severing ties with Miss Teen USA Katie Blair because it was "disappointed" by news reports that she had partied with Miss USA Tara Conner.

The day before, Conner had tearfully admitted drinking as a minor at New York nightclubs. She turned 21 on Monday.

"In the past, MADD has teamed with Miss Teen USA to raise awareness about the serious and often deadly consequences of underage drinking," said Heidi Castle, a spokeswoman for MADD, in a statement. "However, we do not feel, at this time, that Ms. Blair can be an effective spokesperson on underage drinking and will not ask her to represent MADD in future initiatives."

A message left for a representative of Blair, an 18-year-old from Billings, Mont., wasn't returned Wednesday.

Donald Trump — owner of the Miss Universe Organization, which includes Miss Teen USA and Miss USA — said Tuesday at a news conference in New York that he would allow Conner to keep her crown if she settled down and entered alcohol rehab.

Miss Universe Organization spokeswoman Lark-Marie Anton said Blair's crown also was safe.

Anton said the company respected "MADD's decision as much as we respect their work. We look forward to working with them in the future."

In a story Wednesday in The Billings (Mont.) Gazette, Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, said "a lot of the stories" of Blair's activities were unfounded.

"I'm sorry that Katie got dragged into this," Shugart said. "People just wanted to tell a story, and a lot of it is just to see the name of a particular club in the New York papers, whether it's true or not."

Racy photos cost Miss Nevada USA her crown

Shots of Katie Rees kissing other women, exposing breast posted on Web

Associated Press

NEW YORK - Miss Nevada USA was stripped of her title Thursday after racy photos of her appeared on the Internet, pageant officials said.

Some of the photos show Katie Rees, 22, kissing other young women, exposing one of her breasts and pulling down her pants to show her thong underwear at a party in Tampa, Fla.

“Katie Rees has been relieved of her duties as Miss Nevada USA 2007,” said Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, which owns the Miss USA pageant and others.

Rees’ dismissal comes two days after Miss USA Tara Conner was allowed to keep her tiara when she admitted underage drinking at New York bars and agreed to go into rehab and undergo drug testing.

Pageant officials declined to provide a telephone number for Rees and said they didn’t know when the photos of her were taken.

Rees’ attorney, Mario Torres, of Tampa, defended the blonde beauty queen in a statement sent to the entertainment television show “Extra.”

“Katie Rees Miss Nevada USA wants the public to know she was 17 and had a lapse in judgment,” he said. “The actions on that evening in subject are in no way indicative of the person she is or the person she has become. ... She is a law-abiding citizen and talented adult. This was an isolated incident that occurred more than five years ago when she was a minor.”

Shugart made the decision to jettison Rees, but pageant co-owner Donald Trump supported it, said Miss Universe Organization spokeswoman Lark-Marie Anton.

Trump, who co-owns Miss Universe with NBC, gave Conner a second chance after meeting with her Tuesday. Trump said Conner, 21, was a good person with a good heart and deserved to keep her title.

“I think Tara is going to be the great comeback kid,” Trump said during his televised announcement, with a teary-eyed Conner by his side.

Apparently, there will be no comeback for Rees, whose reign was truncated because of the photos.

Rees has appeared as Miss Nevada USA at charity events such as the Goodie Two Shoe Giveaway, at which underprivileged students received free shoes, backpacks and school supplies.

Shugart said first runner-up Helen Salas will assume the title and compete at the next Miss USA pageant on March 23 in Los Angeles.

In another beauty pageant brouhaha, Mothers Against Drunk Driving said Wednesday it was severing ties with Miss Teen USA Katie Blair because it was “disappointed” by news reports that the 18-year-old from Billings, Mont., had been spotted partying with Miss USA in New York clubs.

John Abraham's bottom got pinched !

New Delhi, December 19, 2006

Recently, John's bottom got pinched by a girl and that too in public! For Bipasha's beau, this was quite an embarrassing act. "I love my fans and I know they always get crazy for me. Not just in India, even abroad I have fans that are passionate about getting autographs and photographs with me. But they have never ever tried to get physically, violent or hurtful to me. But in one of the recent tours when I was in Toronto I was at a loss when a female fan did something unseen before.

While I was walking, on my way I felt something pricking into my back. I immediately turned back and saw a girl smiling at me. She was standing there with her boyfriend.... enjoying what she did," recalls John.

So, how did the hot hunk react? John went up to the girl and sermonized her not to indulge in bottom pinching again in future with anyone, as it doesn't reflect good human values.

Says John, "There have been numerous occasions when I have come across people who are ready to take a cue from my hair cuts or the clothes that I wear or even the way I drive my bike. Sometimes they even come and touch my body just to feel me. They ask about my fitness regime and even vow to follow them. But this was quite unusual to experience."

Angelina Jolie: Kissing Matt is nothing like kissing Brad

She says Pitt happens to be the “love” of her life, while Damon is only a “friend”

Angelina Jolie's love scene with Matt Damon in their new movie may be steamy, but she insists that beau Brad Pitt was not the least bit threatened. The reason - Pitt happens to be the "love" of the actress' life, while Damon is only a "friend".

Jolie, who stars opposite the Hollywood hunk in "The Good Shepherd", told her 'Good Morning America' host Diane Sawyer that Pitt, and Damon's wife Luciana Bozan Barroso couldn't have "cared less" about the love scene, for all four of them are very secure in their respective relationships.

"One's a friend and one's my love," the Post Chronicle quoted her, as telling Sawyer.

"In reality, both the people we're involved with couldn't have cared less about that (love scene) because they know us," she said.

"It's one of those things where it's like the least threatening person. Good luck to you guys, I hope it's not too awkward," Jolie added.

The 31-year old mum of three recently opened up about her relationship with Pitt, and in her first in-depth interview in two years revealed that she had never intentionally set out to break-up Pitt's marriage to former 'Friends' star Jennifer Aniston.
